Fantastic rare hill tribe pendant from the Hmong (known as "Miao" in China), made by hand in the villages along the border of Laos and China. This was traditionally worn as an earring.
The center piece is made with thin hand wrapped wire. It hangs from a circular wire frame.
The Hmong believe that silver has the ability to influence spirits, and this type of jewelry plays a very important spiritual and cultural role in their society.
Made with silver and brass. The pendant is about 1.5 inches long. The chain is silver plated, and about 30 inches long.
