An old hair piece worn by the Miao Hmong women in the hill tribe villages along the China/Laos border. The Hmong believe that silver has the ability to keep away evil spirits which bring misfortune, and wear pieces like this for good luck and protection.
Made in the 1970's with silver and brass. I collected this piece while trekking in Southeast Asia last year.
An amazing example of traditional Hmong craftsmanship and cultural heritage!
