A beautiful antique handmade Quiche Mayan Huipil from Chichicastenango, Guatemala. Collected during our travels through the Guatemalan highlands.
Dimensions: 56″ by 33″. The neck opening is about 6 inches with an additional 2.5″ v-neck with a button, which is worn to the side over the shoulder. Sized to fit a small woman or a child, can fit a larger adult with some alteration.
100% handmade, 100% cotton with natural dyes.
This Huipil features three large handwoven panels with a traditional sun embroidery around the collar piece. It is still sewn up the sides in the style of a traditional Mayan blouse.
It is a 1980′s antique piece with designs and colors typical of 1980′s Guatemalan q’ich’e (quiche) Mayans woven textiles.
This huipil was handmade on a traditional Mayan back-strap loom. Each thread is individually tied during the weaving process, which can be seen on the back side of the piece.
This huipil can be displayed as is or worn in the traditional q’ich’e Mayan style.
A museum quality piece of authentic Native American art.
